Cornhole

Cornhole League

Flannagan’s will be starting new cornhole leagues on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights during the fall. The new leagues will start the week of September 24th. The league will last a total of eight weeks, seven of those weeks are season play and the final week will be an elimination tournament for the top 6 teams. Each team will consist of two players and as always you must be at least 21 or older to participate.

ENTRY FEE: Each team will cost $30.00. The winners of each league will receive league champions T-shirts, a free pitcher of beer or pizza, and an invite to the champions tournament.

DEADLINES FOR ENTRY: The deadline for registration will be Friday, September 21st. The game times are subject to change if a league doesn’t sell out. We will call to confirm your first week’s game time 2 to 3 days prior to the scheduled date.

GAMES: There will be a half hour time limit on each game. There will be no time extensions.

APPLICATIONS: Please fill out the application and return it to Flannagan’s with payment. All teams will be placed on a first come, first serve basis. You must stop in Flannagan’s to register. We cannot receive payments online or over the telephone. In order to guarantee your team a spot, the fees must be paid in full. Please make checks payable to Flannagan’s. There is a $30.00 fee for returned checks. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

REPORTING SCORES: It is each team’s responsibility to report the outcome of their game EVERY week.

Game Play and Rules

1) All teams will consist of two players.

2) Each team in a match will position one player in a pitchers box on side A and one on side B. A player may deliver the bag from either the left or right pitchers box but, in any one inning, all bags must be delivered from the same pitchers box.

3) Every cornhole match is broken down into innings of play. During each inning there is a top and a bottom round of play. The top of an inning is completed when both contestants on side A pitch all four bags. Players must alternate between throws. After the same is repeated for side B, which would be the bottom of the inning, then the inning is over. An inning is never completed until all players have tossed all four bags.

4) Pitching Rotation During the Game: The contestant who scored in the preceding half-inning, their teammate shall pitch first in the next half-inning. If neither pitcher scores, the pitching order remains the same.

5) Value of bags: A bag that is thrown through the hole or otherwise comes to rest inside the cornhole platform (knocked in by another player’s bag) is worth 3 points. A bag that is not in the hole but lands with any portion of the bag resting on the cornhole platform is worth 1 point. A bag cannot touch the ground or any other portion of the court prior to coming to rest on the cornhole platform. If a bag touches the ground before coming to rest on the cornhole platform, it is a foul and must be removed from the cornhole platform prior to the continuation of play.

6) Scoring: We will use cancellation scoring for our leagues. In cancellation scoring, bags tossed in the hole and on the platform by opposite teams during a half-inning cancel each other out. Only non-cancelled bags are counted in the score for the inning. For example, if team A scores 7 points and team B scores 4 points, then for that half inning, team A would receive 3 points. (the difference between team A’s score and team B’s score)

7) Length of the Game: The match shall be played until the first team of contestants reaches (or exceeds) 21 points. The winning team does not need to win by two or more points. If the match is tied at 21 or more points at the end of an inning, play continues until one team or the other achieves a higher score at the end of an inning and wins the match. We will allow 30 minutes for each game. Therefore, if your game has not ended and you only have 5 minutes left to complete it, you will no longer use cancellation scoring. Every point will count in order to finish the game and keep the leagues running smoothly.
